Kuwait City, Jun 13: The Embassy of India in Kuwait on Friday organised a blood donation camp at Adan Hospital and Blood Bank, bringing together members of the Indian community in a humanitarian initiative to mark World Blood Donor Day.

The event was held in collaboration with Blood Donors Kerala (BDK) and the Federation of Indian Doctors (FID), reflecting the strong spirit of community service among Indians living in Kuwait.

Indian Ambassador to Kuwait Paramita Tripathi and Sheikh Hamoud Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Governor of Al Ahmadi Governorate, jointly inaugurated the camp. The Governor set the tone for the event by becoming the first person to donate blood.

Expressing appreciation for the large turnout, the Embassy said the enthusiastic participation of donors and volunteers highlighted the enduring values of compassion, social responsibility and the close friendship shared by India and Kuwait.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Tripathi praised the commitment of the Indian diaspora to public service. She noted that blood donation drives had become a regular feature of community engagement in Kuwait and would continue in the future. The Ambassador described the willingness of Indians to contribute to the welfare of both countries as inspiring.

Earlier in the day, the Embassy also launched activities leading up to International Day of Yoga 2026 with a special yoga session at the Gulf SPIC Labour Camp.

The programme carried added significance as the labour camp was visited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his landmark trip to Kuwait in December 2024.

A large number of Indian workers participated in the session, performing the Common Yoga Protocol and embracing this year’s theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.” The event emphasised yoga’s role in improving physical fitness, mental wellness and overall quality of life across different age groups.

As part of the outreach initiative, Ambassador Tripathi distributed sports kits to residents of the camp. The kits included carrom boards, chess sets, cricket equipment and football gear, reinforcing the importance of sports, fitness and healthy living in line with the vision behind the Khelo India and Fit India movements.
