Mangaluru, Jun 9: St Aloysius Pre-University College provided I PU students with a valuable platform for learning, reflection, and personal growth through a series of sessions led by distinguished academicians, counsellors, and professionals.
Dr Surfraz J Hasim, principal of PA First Grade College, delivered an inspiring session titled 'The Subconscious Edge: Unlocking the Secrets of Peak performance and Success'. Encouraging students to recognize their potential, he highlighted the power of thoughts, attitudes, and self-belief in achieving success. Through practical strategies such as positive affirmations, visualization, and goal-setting, he motivated students to cultivate resilience, maintain focus, and strive for excellence.









Addressing the opportunities and challenges of the digital era, Mona Mendonca, assistant professor and head of the department of history at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), spoke on 'Upholding Integrity in the Age of AI'. She emphasized the responsible use of artificial intelligence and underscored the importance of originality, critical thinking, and academic honesty. Her session encouraged students to view technology as a powerful learning aid while preserving creativity and independent thought.
Dr Preethi conducted an engaging session on 'Realm of Commerce', introducing students to the vast opportunities available in finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, economics, law, and fintech. She encouraged them to explore their interests, dream ambitiously, and make informed career choices.
Adding an inspirational dimension to the programme, Caroline Maria Pais, practising advocate and soft-skills trainer, shared insights from her professional journey. Speaking on perseverance, purpose, and positivity, she encouraged students to approach challenges with confidence and determination.
Dr Vidya Vinutha D’Souza, head of the PG department of social work at St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), conducted a session titled 'New Campus, New Choices and New You'. Introducing students to the Jesuit ideals of Magis, service, and Cura Personalis, she encouraged them to embrace opportunities, make responsible choices, and grow into compassionate individuals.
The importance of interpersonal skills was highlighted by Dr Malini N Hebbar, principal of Swastika National Business School, during her interactive session on 'Soft Skills for Teens'. Through relatable examples and engaging activities, she emphasized the significance of communication, teamwork, emotional intelligence, and professional etiquette in both academic and personal life.
In a forward-looking session titled 'Lead Beyond Limits', Dr S Ruban, associate professor and dean, School of Engineering, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University), encouraged students to think beyond conventional boundaries. Speaking on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics, he highlighted the importance of leadership, creativity, adaptability, and ethical innovation in shaping the future.
Recognizing the growing influence of technology in students’ lives, Bakyalakshmi, student counsellor at St Aloysius PU College, conducted an engaging session on 'Scroll, Play, Repeat: Digital Balance and Wellbeing'. She discussed the effects of excessive screen time and shared practical strategies for maintaining a healthy balance between digital engagement and personal well-being.
Students also gained valuable insights from a session on 'Mastering Life Skills' by Prathik B Rai, student counsellor. Emphasizing decision-making, time management, goal-setting, and effective communication, he encouraged students to develop essential life skills as a foundation for academic success and personal growth.
The sessions encouraged students to reflect on their aspirations, embrace lifelong learning, and strive for excellence while remaining rooted in the values of integrity, service, and holistic development.
