Mangalruu, Jun 1: The Centre for Inter-Religious Harmony (CIRH) of St Aloysius PU College celebrated Bakrid (Eid al-Adha) with great enthusiasm and reverence. The celebration reflected the spirit of unity, mutual respect, and understanding among students belonging to diverse faith traditions.
The programme commenced with a prayer, followed by a reading from the holy Quran by B K Afreen. Welcoming the gathering, she highlighted the significance of celebrating festivals as occasions for fostering harmony and strengthening relationships across communities.













Aysha Raifa spoke about the importance of Bakrid and its enduring message of faith, sacrifice, compassion, and obedience to god. Adding further insight to the celebration, Akeed Muhammed Aqthar presented a video explaining the meaning of the festival and the values it seeks to promote. His presentation helped the audience gain a deeper understanding of the true essence of Eid al-Adha and its relevance in contemporary society.
Addressing the gathering, the chief guest, Dr Mohiuddeen Mohammed Hisham, shared his reflections on the significance of perseverance, gratitude, and personal growth.
Recalling his student days at the College, he encouraged students not to be discouraged by failures but to view them as opportunities for learning and success. He also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the teachers who had played an important role in shaping his life and urged students to remain grateful for the guidance they receive.
In his message, Fr Clifford Sequeira SJ emphasised the values of faith, tolerance, and mutual respect. He noted that celebrations such as Bakrid provide meaningful opportunities for people of different backgrounds to come together, appreciate one another’s traditions, and strengthen the bonds of humanity.
A highlight of the programme was a short skit presented by the students of II PUC Batch 5, which creatively depicted the different meanings that festivals hold for people and communities. The performance reinforced the message that festivals are occasions of joy, togetherness, and shared human values.
The programme was compered by Khushi Rani and concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Aysha Raifa.
The celebration ended on a joyful note with refreshments being served to all students and staff, fostering a spirit of fellowship and communal harmony.
