Udupi, Jun 1: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shri Madhwa Vadiraja Institute of Technology and Management (SMVITM), Bantakal, Udupi, successfully organized a one-day workshop titled ‘Canva Masterclass for Engineering Aspirants’ on May 29. The workshop was designed for students who had completed II PUC and were aspiring to pursue engineering education.
The primary objective of the workshop was to enhance participants’ creativity, digital design skills, and awareness of emerging opportunities in content creation, graphic designing, digital marketing, and freelancing.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr Sadananda L, head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Addressing the participants, he highlighted the objectives of the workshop and introduced the academic and co-curricular activities of the department.
The technical sessions were conducted by Sanjeeth Shetty, C Vignesh Kumar, and Deepak, third-year CSE students and members of the official student media team. The sessions covered various aspects of Canva, including basic design tools, professional poster creation, social media content development, presentation design, video editing, and AI-powered features available in the platform. Participants actively engaged in the hands-on activities and gained practical experience in creating visually appealing digital content.
As part of the afternoon session, a design competition was organized on the theme of Computer Science and Engineering. Participants showcased their creativity and design skills through innovative poster designs. The top two entries were selected based on creativity, presentation, and overall design quality.
The prize distribution ceremony was held in the presence of Dr Nagaraj Bhat, principal, SMVITM, and Dr Sadananda L, head of the Department of CSE, who distributed prizes and participation certificates to the winners and participants. They commended the students for their enthusiastic involvement and creative efforts.
Dr Sudarshan Rao K, dean (Academics), SMVITM, felicitated the resource persons in recognition of their valuable contribution to the success of the workshop.
The workshop concluded on a positive note, providing aspiring engineering students with valuable exposure to modern digital design tools and creative career opportunities.
