Mumbai, May 25: Actress Saiyami Kher is set to portray a fashion photographer in designer-turned-filmmaker Vikram Phadnis’ upcoming untitled romantic drama, a role she describes as both creatively exciting and emotionally rewarding.
The makers recently unveiled Saiyami’s first look from the film, featuring the actress holding a professional camera against a scenic outdoor backdrop. Her simple and understated appearance hints at the film’s realistic and emotionally driven narrative, which explores themes of love, relationships and human emotions.
Speaking about the project, Saiyami revealed that she immediately agreed to be a part of the film after hearing the narration from Vikram Phadnis.

She said she feels fortunate to receive strong, performance-oriented roles that allow actors to fully explore their craft. According to her, opportunities to portray such layered characters are rare and deeply valuable.
Saiyami also shared that the film holds special significance for Vikram Phadnis personally, which made her even more determined to do justice to the character and the filmmaker’s vision. She praised his sincerity, dedication and clarity about the story he wanted to tell.
The actress further noted that despite Vikram’s long-standing influence and connections in the fashion industry, he remained committed to choosing actors who genuinely suited the roles instead of opting for more commercially obvious choices.
For her performance as a photographer, Saiyami drew inspiration from renowned fashion photographer Taras Taraporvala. She added that one of the joys of acting is learning new skills and stepping into completely different worlds with every project.
Saiyami also highlighted the transformation in her appearance for the film, crediting Vikram for presenting her in a completely fresh look onscreen.
The actress expressed excitement about sharing screen space with co-stars Vineet Kumar and Tahir Raj Bhasin, describing both actors as talented, secure and extremely supportive collaborators.
Reflecting on her recent work choices, Saiyami said she feels lucky to be part of films with contrasting characters and storytelling styles, mentioning that this project and her film “Haiwaan” showcase entirely different shades of her acting journey.
She concluded by saying that as an actor, she hopes to continue exploring diverse characters and “living many new lives” through cinema.
