Haryana, May 21: Demonstrating resilience, self-belief, and a strategic approach to preparation, Eshani Anand has secured All India Rank (AIR) 106 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2024, adding yet another milestone to her inspiring civil services journey.
A dedicated educator, mentor, and civil services achiever, Eshani had earlier cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2023 with AIR 79 and was subsequently allotted the Indian Police Service (IPS).

Eshani hails from Haryana but lived in Tamil Nadu because of her father's job posting. She is a computer science engineer with an outstanding 9.67 CGPA. She had a work offer, cracked CAT and IIFT, but she decided to stick to UPSC preparation.
Eshani cracked the prestigious UPSC examination in her fourth attempt after overcoming setbacks in her earlier attempts. Speaking about her journey, she emphasised the importance of learning from failure and avoiding blind imitation of others’ preparation strategies.
For the Mains examination, she chose Anthropology as her optional subject.
Sharing insights into her preparation strategy, Eshani highlighted the importance of understanding the ‘examiner’s mindset’. She said aspirants should carefully analyse previous years’ question papers to identify recurring patterns, which helps in quickly eliminating options in the Preliminary examination and effectively handling the static portions of the syllabus.
She also stressed the need for self-reflection during preparation, advising candidates to avoid getting distracted by the ‘external noise’ surrounding UPSC preparation. According to her, aspirants should introspect and identify the strategy that works best for them individually rather than following others blindly.
Eshani Anand’s journey from a computer science engineer to an IPS officer and now a top achiever in UPSC CSE 2024 stands as a source of motivation for thousands of aspirants preparing for one of the country’s toughest examinations.
