Israel claims control over 60% of Gaza Strip

Daijiworld Media Network - Jerusalem

Jerusalem, May 18: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defence Minister Israel Katz have claimed that Israel now controls around 60 per cent of the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing conflict in the region.

Addressing the cabinet, Netanyahu said, “Already 60 per cent. This is for today.”

Responding to the remark, Katz reportedly said, “Maybe that changed in the last hour,” indicating the rapidly evolving military situation on the ground.

The comments come as Israeli forces continue operations across Gaza following months of intense fighting and escalating humanitarian concerns in the enclave.

The conflict has resulted in widespread destruction, large-scale displacement of civilians and mounting international calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian assistance.

No independent verification of the territorial control claims was immediately available.
