Bantwal: Absconding accused in 1992 illegal petrol transport case arrested in Vittal

Bantwal, May 13: The Vittal police have successfully apprehended an accused who had been absconding for over three decades in connection with an illegal petrol transport case dating back to 1992.

The arrested individual has been identified as Siddiq, originally a resident of Manjeshwar in Kasargod district.

Acting on credible information, the police arrested him at Kabbinamoole in Kanyana village.

According to the details of the case, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Vittal police station in 1992 against two individuals, Ibrahim and Siddiq, for allegedly transporting petrol illegally in a car. While the legal proceedings were underway, Siddiq failed to appear before the judge and went into hiding to evade the law.

Following his recent arrest at Kabbinamoole, the Vittal police produced him before the court.
