Mangaluru, May 11: In a tragic incident, a 42-year-old man who was scheduled to return to his workplace in Israel in a few days died by suicide by hanging himself at his residence in Ullal Hoige. The incident came to light in the early hours of Monday, May 11.
The deceased has been identified as Surya Prakash D'Souza (42), son of the late Jerry D'Souza and Isabella.

Surya Prakash had been employed in Israel for the past year. He had recently returned home, along with his sister who also works in Israel, to attend the wedding of his brother, the owner of Reshma Catering. He was scheduled to fly back to Israel on May 17.
In the early hours of Monday, after his sister and brother-in-law had left for work, Surya Prakash reportedly resorted to the extreme step in his bedroom. The tragedy came to light when his mother, Isabella, entered his room.
According to locals, Surya Prakash had been suffering from persistent chest pain and was undergoing medical treatment for the same. It is suspected that the physical agony and resulting depression drove him to end his life. Sources indicated that he left behind a death note explaining his health struggles.
Remembered as a friendly and affectionate person who mingled easily with everyone, Surya Prakash had actively participated in a local association's event just this past Sunday and was enthusiastically involved in his brother's recent wedding celebrations.
He is survived by his mother, three sisters, and a brother. A case has been registered at the Ullal police station in connection with the incident.
His final rites are scheduled to be held at the Thokkottu church on May 12.
