Mumbai, May 11: Veteran actor Anupam Kher took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he revisited the iconic railway station where the legendary train sequence of the 1995 blockbuster Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) was originally shot featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
Sharing a video from the location, Kher said being at the spot felt like time had stood still, bringing back a flood of memories from one of Indian cinema’s most celebrated films. He noted that the sequence has remained etched in the hearts of audiences across generations.

In the clip, he recalled the famous moment when Simran runs towards the departing train while Raj extends his hand, a scene that has become symbolic of Bollywood romance. He also remembered his own role in the film as Dharamvir Malhotra, Raj’s father.
Kher spoke emotionally about the shoot, recalling the presence of filmmaker Aditya Chopra and producer Yash Chopra during filming. He said the atmosphere on set was filled with warmth and simplicity, something he cherishes even today.
Describing the location, he compared the experience to visiting iconic cinematic landmarks in world cinema, saying such places carry the emotional legacy of the stories filmed there.
The actor also expressed a wish that the Maharashtra government develop the site into a tourist attraction, highlighting how film locations often become cultural landmarks that preserve collective memory.
In his social media caption, Kher reflected that when they were filming the scene decades ago, no one could have imagined it would become one of the most iconic moments in Indian film history. He added that the true significance of such moments is often understood only years later.
He concluded by saying that cinema’s legacy is not just preserved in films but also in the places where unforgettable scenes are created, urging that such heritage locations be protected and honoured for future generations.
