Beltangady: Police raid ‘canteen’ operating prostitution racket, three arrested

Beltangady, May 11: Police conducted a sudden raid on ‘Pawan Canteen’ located on KEB Road in Kasaba village of the taluk and uncovered an illegal prostitution racket allegedly being operated under the guise of a canteen. Three persons, including the canteen owner, were arrested during the raid.

The arrested have been identified as canteen owner Sundar Shetty and customers Usman and Haider.

Acting on credible information that prostitution activities were being carried out at Pawan Canteen, Beltangady police carried out the raid and exposed the illegal operation. A 29-year-old woman was rescued during the operation, and cash amounting to Rs 5,000 was seized.

A case has been registered at Beltangady police station and further legal action has been initiated.
