Vasco, May 10: Agassaim police have registered a criminal case against a Vasco-based taekwondo coach associated with the Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) for allegedly acquiring a Portuguese passport without informing government authorities while continuing to work as a state employee.

The accused, identified as Elizabeth Luis from Bhutebhatt in Vasco, was serving as a taekwondo coach under the Sports Authority of Goa.

According to police officials, the case was registered on May 8 following a complaint lodged by Mangaldas Gaonkar, Director of the Sports Authority of Goa.

Investigators stated that between January 11, 2018 and November 14, 2025, the accused allegedly secured a Portuguese passport despite being employed as a government servant and failed to provide the required disclosure to the competent authorities regarding the change in nationality or passport status.

The complaint further alleged that Elizabeth Luis continued to remain in government service during the period and received salary and other employment-related benefits from the department, thereby allegedly misleading government authorities.

Based on the complaint, Agassaim police have registered an offence under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Police said further investigation into the matter is currently being conducted by PSI Rushikesh Raikar.
