Bhopal, May 10: In a major organisational push ahead of future electoral battles, the Congress on Saturday introduced a new campaign titled ‘Project M’ in Madhya Pradesh, aimed at increasing the participation of women from minority communities in politics and strengthening the party’s grassroots presence.

The initiative was launched at Indira Bhawan, the state Congress headquarters in Bhopal, in the presence of senior party leaders, including Madhya Pradesh Congress in-charge Harish Choudhary. During the programme, leaders interacted with women representatives from minority communities and discussed strategies to enhance their involvement in leadership and community-based political activities.

State Congress president Jitu Patwari said the campaign has been designed to bring women who have traditionally remained distant from mainstream politics into active public engagement.

“Project M is an effort to empower women from minority communities by connecting them with leadership opportunities and decision-making platforms. Their participation is essential for building a stronger democratic and social framework,” Patwari said.

Addressing the gathering, he stressed that meaningful political transformation begins at the grassroots level and said women would play a crucial role in linking communities with democratic processes.

After remaining out of power in Madhya Pradesh for over two decades, the Congress has intensified efforts to revive its organisational structure through targeted social outreach programmes and cadre-building initiatives.

Party leaders described ‘Project M’ as a long-term organisational mission focused on nurturing grassroots leadership among minority women and identifying emerging local leaders across the state.

Under the programme, the Congress has constituted a state-level women’s leadership team comprising nearly 160 members. These representatives will work across villages, towns, and urban centres to spread awareness about the party’s ideology, welfare policies, and organisational activities.

State Congress Media Department head Mukesh Nayak clarified that women associated with the campaign would not be used for large-scale protests or political demonstrations.

“The objective is to build direct communication within communities, encourage political awareness among women, and establish local support networks through sustained engagement,” Nayak said.

According to party leaders, the campaign will be implemented in multiple phases across all districts of Madhya Pradesh, with a focus on dialogue, leadership training, and organisational development to encourage greater political participation among minority women.
