Sullia, May 9: Senior Yakshagana artist and renowned Talamaddale performer Pakirappa Poojari, fondly known among art lovers as 'Pakru Anna', passed away on May 7 following a brief illness. He was 81.
A resident of Chettakallu in Kallugundi, Pakirappa Poojari was a respected figure in the world of Yakshagana and Talamaddale, having dedicated several decades to the traditional art form. He is survived by his daughter and three sons.
Widely admired for his powerful stage presence, deep voice and thoughtful interpretation of mythological characters, he earned recognition across regions including Kallugundi, Sampaje and Koynadu. His performances as an arthadhari in Yakshagana gatherings and Talamaddale events left a lasting impression on audiences and fellow artists alike.

Known for his expressive style and logical narration, Pakirappa Poojari brought depth and authenticity to every role he portrayed. He was also a regular participant in the weekly and fortnightly Talamaddale sessions held at the Sri Ramakrishna Bhajana Mandir in Kallugundi.
Apart from his contributions to the cultural field, he was also remembered for his generosity and support towards various social and cultural organisations.
