Shakti Kapoor dismisses viral death hoax, says ‘I am healthy and happy’

Mumbai, May 8: Veteran Bollywood actor Shakti Kapoor has strongly dismissed rumours of his death after fake reports circulated widely on social media, causing concern among fans and members of the film industry.

The 73-year-old actor took to Instagram on Thursday to clarify that he is safe and in good health, while condemning those responsible for spreading the false information.

“Hello everyone. My death news is all fake. I am healthy and happy. Please ignore it,” Shakti Kapoor said in a video message shared online.

Appearing calm and composed in the clip, the actor assured fans that there was no truth to the rumours and revealed that he plans to take legal action against those behind the hoax.

“I am going to do a cyber complaint about it because this is not good,” he added.

The fake reports had sparked panic among fans before the actor personally addressed the issue.

Several social media users expressed relief after watching the video and criticised the spread of misinformation online.

Fans also flooded the comment section with messages wishing the actor good health and praising his contribution to Indian cinema.

Known for his iconic comic and villainous roles, Shakti Kapoor has acted in nearly 700 Hindi films during a career spanning more than four decades.

He is widely recognised for memorable performances in films such as Raja Babu, Andaz Apna Apna, ChaalBaaz, Hungama, Hulchul, Chup Chup Ke, Malamaal Weekly and Bhagam Bhag.

Shakti Kapoor is also the father of actors Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor. Shraddha Kapoor was last seen in the blockbuster horror-comedy sequel Stree 2, which emerged as one of the highest-grossing Hindi films of 2024.
