Mangaluru, May 6: Based on information received on May 5, personnel of the CID Forest Mobile Squad, Mangaluru, conducted a raid near Kadri Park and arrested three persons who were attempting to sell pangolin scales.
Acting on a tip-off that pangolin scales were being illegally offered for sale, the team reached the spot around 3 pm and confirmed the presence of three accused in a white Maruti Swift car bearing registration number KA 05 MS 1049. Upon verification, it was found that they were attempting to sell pangolin scales. The police immediately conducted a raid, apprehended the three accused, seized the materials, registered a case, and produced the accused before the court, following which they were remanded to judicial custody.

The police seized pangolin scales weighing 5.200 kg, and a White Maruti Swift car (KA 05 MS 1049) – estimated value Rs 3 lac.
The accused arrested are identified as H R Jagadish (50) from Bengaluru South, Siddu Naik (38) from Kanakapura, and Babu (48) from Banashankari, Bengaluru.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of the inspector general of police, CID Forest Cell, Bengaluru, and superintendent of police, CID Forest Cell, Madikeri, Pavan Nellore IPS. The team was led by police sub-inspector Dileep G R of the CID Forest Mobile Squad, Mangaluru, along with staff members Taranath S and Abdul Ravoof.
