Mumbai, May 6: The Kapoor family’s cinematic tradition takes a new turn as Riddhima Kapoor Khan, daughter of Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor, steps into films at the age of 45 with her debut in Daadi Ki Shaadi, directed by Ashish R Mohan and slated for release on May 8.
The film marks a special family collaboration, featuring Neetu Kapoor alongside Riddhima in key roles, while Riddhima’s daughter Samara also appears in a song sequence titled Senti, creating a rare three-generation on-screen presence.

Speaking about her debut, Riddhima said entering films at this stage of life brought both excitement and nervousness. “Starting something new always comes with vulnerability, but it is also very fulfilling,” she shared, adding that her mother’s guidance helped her ease into the role.
Riddhima revealed that comedian Kapil Sharma played a key role in recommending her name for the project. She also credited her earlier experience in front of the camera through Fabulous Lives of Bollywood Wives for helping her adapt to film shooting.
Neetu Kapoor, who returns to the big screen after her 2022 film Jugjugg Jeeyo, plays a central role in the project and shares several scenes with her daughter, making the experience emotionally significant for the family.
The Kapoor family has long been associated with Indian cinema, with several women traditionally stepping away from acting after marriage. However, Riddhima’s debut reflects a changing trend, where women are increasingly choosing to pursue their own professional paths.
Riddhima expressed pride in being part of this legacy, stating that Kapoor women have always shown strength and grace in their journeys. “It feels like an honour to be associated with this heritage in my own way,” she said.
With members of the Kapoor family actively working across major film projects, Riddhima’s entry into cinema adds a new chapter to one of Bollywood’s most influential families, marking both continuity and change in its storied legacy.
