Driver’s alertness saves 17 as KSRTC ‘Pallakki’ bus catches fire in Haveri

Haveri, May 5: Seventeen passengers had a close call after a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) ‘Pallakki’ bus caught fire and was completely destroyed in Haveri district on Tuesday.

The bus was en route from Bengaluru to Gadag when the incident occurred on the Karnataka highway near Devarudda village in Ranebennur taluk. The fire reportedly broke out suddenly while the vehicle was in motion.

Driver Pakkirappa acted swiftly after noticing the flames, bringing the bus to a halt and ensuring all passengers disembarked safely, preventing any casualties.

Ranebennur Rural police visited the spot for inspection. A case has been registered at the Ranebennur Rural police station, and further investigation is in progress.
