Udupi, May 4: As a prelude to the Maha Rudra Yaga, the Chappara Muhurta ceremony was held with religious fervour at the historic Kodavoor Shankaranarayana Temple on May 3.
The rituals were conducted under the guidance of the temple’s chief priest, Seetharam Acharya, marking the formal beginning of preparations for the grand spiritual event.
The Maha Rudra Yaga, scheduled to be held from May 14 to May 19, is being organized for the welfare of the world and prosperity of the people of the region. The event is being led by Maha Rudra Yaga Committee Working President Prasadraj Kanchan.




As part of the programme, a grand Horekanike procession will be held on May 14, followed by the commencement of the Maha Rudra Yaga on May 15. The five-day religious event will conclude on May 19. Various religious and cultural programs have been planned during the period, along with arrangements for annaprasada for devotees.
In a notable initiative, around 5,000 women will be given the opportunity to participate in the Maha Rudra Yaga Sankalpa. Devotees interested in taking part can register their names at the Maha Rudra Yaga committee office.
Among those present on the occasion were Maha Rudra Yaga committee working president Prasadraj Kanchan, committee coordinator K Krishnamurthy Acharya, Temple management committee president Prakash G Kodavoor, Maha Rudra Yaga committee coordinators Ramesh S Thingalaya, Nandakishore Kemmannu, and Balakrishna Kodavoor. Bhajana coordinator Dhananjaya Kanchan, management committee members Bhaskara Palan, A Raja Serigar, Vadiraj Salian, Yashodhara Salian, Baba K, Usha Anand Suvarna, Sheela Devadiga, and several others including P Gururaj Rao, Yadava Ameen, Sadananda Moolya, B Kushal Shetty, Asha Chandrashekar, Surendra Acharya, Sunil Poojary, Shankara Kunder, Hariprasad Malpe, Sharath Hanumannagar, Kusuma Karkera, Yashoda Kemmannu, Satish Kalyanpur, Vitthal Poojary, Shalini Salian, Archana Devadiga, Vijaya Bhaskara, Sandhya Prakash, Sukanya Poojary, Shakunthala Sadananda, and Umesh Rao Kodavoor participated in the programme.
