Mumbai police seize ecstasy pills worth Rs 6 crore, woman held in Titwala raid

Mumbai, Apr 20: The Mumbai Police have intensified their crackdown on party drug traffickers following the NESCO drug case, arresting a woman and seizing ecstasy pills worth around Rs 6 crore in a raid at Titwala.

The accused, identified as A. Paul, was arrested after police raided her residence and recovered nearly 5,000 ecstasy tablets. Investigations revealed that she was a major supplier of party drugs, stocking and distributing them to wholesale dealers.

The action follows earlier arrests in the case. On Wednesday, police arrested Irfan Ansari from Sakinaka and seized 200 drug tablets from him. During interrogation, Ansari revealed details about his supplier, Sufiyan, who was subsequently detained. Further investigation led police to the Titwala link.

Acting on intelligence inputs, a team led by officials under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Navnath Dhawale tracked the accused woman for three to four days before arresting her.

During the raid, police also seized four mobile phones and seven SIM cards, which are expected to help trace her network and contacts.

Officials said the accused frequently changed rented accommodations and concealed her identity, making it difficult for neighbours to detect her activities.

In a related development, police have also arrested a security guard in connection with the NESCO Centre drug-related deaths case. The accused, identified as Pradeep Gupta, was taken into custody by the Vanrai police for allegedly allowing drug users to enter the venue without tickets in exchange for money.
