Mangaluru, Apr 16: Muhammad Irshad Khan (58), a well-known social activist and resident of Bikarnakatte in the city, passed away at a private hospital. He had been battling serious injuries sustained in a road accident that occurred in Sakleshpur, Hassan district, last Saturday.
According to sources, the accident took place when a stray dog suddenly crossed the path of the two-wheeler Khan was riding. In an attempt to avoid the animal, he lost control of the vehicle and fell onto the road, sustaining severe head and bodily injuries.

He was initially rushed to a local hospital in Sakleshpur for emergency care and was later shifted to a specialized private hospital in Mangaluru on Sunday for advanced treatment. Despite the best efforts of the medical team, he failed to respond to treatment and breathed his last on Tuesday night.
Irshad Khan was a prominent businessman in the real estate sector and was widely respected for his active involvement in various social and community service initiatives.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a daughter, and a large circle of relatives and friends.
