Mangaluru, Apr 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning in several parts of Karnataka, providing much-needed relief from the soaring temperatures.
According to the weather bulletin, districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Belagavi, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Hassan are likely to witness scattered light showers on Thursday, April 16.

Hot and humid weather in coastal belt
Despite the possibility of rain, the IMD has issued a warning for hot and humid conditions in Dakshina Kannada for the next two days starting April 16. The coastal region has been reeling under a significant rise in temperature over the past week.
On Wednesday morning, while parts of Dakshina Kannada witnessed cloudy skies, the weather quickly turned sweltering with intense heat and high humidity levels.
Temperature statistics
In Mangaluru, the maximum temperature was recorded at 34.8°C on Wednesday, which is 0.5°C above the seasonal average. The minimum temperature stood at 27°C, marking a notable increase of 2.2°C above normal.
