Udupi, Apr 15: The body of a fisherman from Odisha, who had been missing since the end of March, was recovered from the waters near the T-dock of Malpe fishing harbour on Sunday, April 12.

The deceased has been identified as Sanatana Kisan (35). He had been employed on the fishing boat ‘Ishanidhi’. Due to the recent lull in fishing activities, the boat had been anchored at the Malpe harbour.

Sanatana was last seen on the boat at around 9:30 pm on March 31. When he was not found the following morning, a missing person’s report was filed at the Malpe police station.

Initial investigations suggest that Sanatana may have accidentally slipped and fallen into the water while the boat was docked. His body was spotted floating near the jetty after nearly 12 days.

The Malpe police have registered a case of unnatural death and have shifted the body for a post-mortem examination. Further investigations are underway.
