Turkey, Apr 14: In a rare school shooting incident in Turkey, a former student opened fire at his old high school on Tuesday, injuring 16 people, including several students, before taking his own life, officials said.
The incident occurred in the Siverek district of southeastern Sanliurfa province, prompting a swift response from security forces. Special police units were deployed to the school, while students were evacuated amid panic.

Local governor Hasan Sildak said the attacker was a former student of the school, born in 2007. He added that the assailant was cornered by police before he died by suicide.
“We have evacuated the school and will carry out a thorough investigation into this tragic incident,” Sildak told reporters.
Television visuals showed ambulances stationed outside the school as injured students were rushed for treatment and others fled the premises in fear.
Officials confirmed that most of the injured were students. Authorities have launched a detailed investigation into the motive behind the attack.
