Karkala: Christ King institutions celebrates Ambedkar Jayanti

Karkala, Apr 14: Ambedkar Jayanti was meaningfully celebrated at Christ King Educational Institutions Karkala here, paying tribute to the architect of the Indian Constitution, Dr B R Ambedkar.

Dr Prakash Bhat, vice principal of the pre-university section of the institution, attended the programme as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted that Dr B R Ambedkar placed great importance on education and firmly believed that education is the true strength of an individual. He urged students to adopt Ambedkar’s ideals in their lives and strive to become well-educated citizens. He further noted that the efforts of students in reducing inequality and poverty in the country would truly honor the service rendered by Ambedkar.

The programme was presided over by Jayalakshmi, in-charge headmistress of the Primary School section. Assistant teacher Alice Lobo shared her thoughts on the life and contributions of Dr Ambedkar.

On the occasion, guests, teaching and non-teaching staff paid floral tribute to Ambedkar’s portrait as a mark of respect. The programme was compered by Jeslin, assistant teacher of the primary section.
