Tehran, Apr 7: Iranian officials on Tuesday reported damage to key infrastructure, including bridges, railway lines and a major highway, following a wave of deadly airstrikes reportedly carried out by the United States and Israel.

According to state media, a bridge near the holy city of Qom and another carrying a railway line in Kashan were among the targets.

Two people were killed and three others injured in Kashan, senior regional security official Akbar Salehi said, as quoted by IRNA news agency.

Authorities also said a major highway in northern Iran connecting Tabriz with Tehran via Zanjan was closed after it was hit about 90 kilometres outside Tabriz.

A Telegram channel linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards claimed the strike targeted an overpass bridge.

Separately, the Mizan news agency reported damage to railway tracks in Karaj, located near Tehran. Visuals showed Red Crescent rescue teams evacuating injured persons from the site.

The strikes mark a significant escalation targeting critical infrastructure, with further details awaited.
