Kundapur, Mar 25: Srinivasa Ganiga (68), former president of the Kundapur Taluk Ganiga Samaja and a noted Panchayat Raj activist, lost his life in a road accident near Tallur on the national highway on Tuesday, March 24.
Srinivasa Ganiga was an active participant in movements related to Panchayat Raj rights. On Tuesday night, after attending a meeting in Kundapur, he was returning towards Kat Bellur on his motorcycle.

The accident occurred around 8 pm near Tallur, when a motorcycle arriving from the opposite direction at high speed reportedly collided head-on with his bike. Due to the impact, Ganiga was thrown onto the road and sustained severe head injuries.
Locals who rushed to the spot found him unconscious. He was immediately shifted to a private hospital in Kundapur and later to KMC Hospital in Manipal for emergency treatment. However, despite the efforts of the doctors, he succumbed to his injuries due to excessive blood loss.
The incident has shocked the local community, with many expressing grief over the untimely demise of the respected social worker and community leader.
