Beltangady: Worker dies after electric pole falls on him during installation work

Beltangady, Mar 17: A labourer died on the spot after an electric pole fell on him during installation work at Kokkada in Beltangady taluk on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Shivappa (40), a resident of Mahaveera Colony in Kokkada village.

Shivappa had been working as a daily wage labourer under contractor Purushothama for the past several years. On Monday, he was engaged in electric pole installation work near the Kokkada Sri Rama Bhajana Mandira.

It is learnt that Shivappa was working without wearing any safety equipment when the electric pole suddenly fell on him, causing severe injuries that led to his death.

A case has been registered at the Dharmasthala police station.
