Mangaluru, Mar 13: The Surathkal police have arrested a man in connection with the theft of vehicle spare parts from a garage in the Hosabettu area. The police have also recovered the stolen items along with the vehicle used for the crime.
The accused has been identified as Mukesh Das (46), a native of Jodhpur, Rajasthan, currently residing in Srinivasa Nagar, Banashankari, Bengaluru.

According to the police, the incident occurred on the night of February 14, 2025. A lorry driver arrived at 'Friends Garage' located near the National Highway in Hosabettu and parked his vehicle. He then allegedly stole spare parts belonging to two heavy vehicles that were stationed at the garage for repairs and fled the scene in his lorry.
Following the theft, the garage owner filed a formal complaint at the Surathkal police station.
Based on the complaint, the Surathkal police initiated an investigation and successfully tracked down the accused. The police have seized vehicle spare parts valued at Rs 96,000 and the Eicher lorry used in the commission of the crime, which is valued at approximately Rs 15 lac. The total value of the seized property amounts to Rs 15.96 lac.
The accused was produced before the court, which has remanded him to judicial custody.
