The show entirely dedicated to a noble cause of fund raising for Goretti Hospital will take place on April 5 at Mount Rosary church grounds from 5 pm onwards.
The musical evening, featuring popular singer Joshal D’Souza and team, promises to be a vibrant celebration of fellowship and compassion. More than entertainment, the event carries a noble purpose — to strengthen and upgrade the services of Goretti Hospital, a healthcare institution that has served the region with dedication for over 65 years.

Founded in 1958 by the then diocese of Mangalore under the visionary leadership of Msgr Denis Jerome D’Souza, then deanery head of Kallianpur deanery and later entrusted to the devoted SRA Sisters in 1962, 'Goretti Hospital' has been a place where life began, hope was restored and countless families found healing. The hospital has been a ray of hope for the people of Kallianpur, Santhekatte, Brahmavar, Kemmannu and associated areas. Poor and marginalized sections of the community have largely benefitted from the medical services of Goretti Hospital. From the 1960s to 1990s, the hospital's maternity ward witnessed the birth of many people from middle class and poor families of the surrounding area. The out-patient department and emergency medicine including surgical care were a lifeline for many. The hospital treated every patient with compassion and care.
About SRA sisters, the backbone behind Goretti Hospital
The congregation of the 'Missionary Sisters of Queen of Apostles' is an apostolic congregation of pontifical rights, widely known as SRA - Congregatio Missionalies Sororum Reginae Aposatolorum. It was canonically established on July 1, 1923, in Vienna, Austria and there are various houses in Italy, Germany, Belgium etc and close to 100 convents in India including Karnataka and Kallianpur have the rare credit of their first station. In 1962, the Goretti Hospital was entrusted to the SRA congregation and they started their service in the field of medical, educational and social field, which still continues.
Sisters of SRA congregation have been very much instrumental in upbringing the Goretti Hospital. Their dedicated service was the reason for the success of the hospital in the early 1990s. The compassionate care was much widely appreciated by the families in and around. They did not restrict themselves to the hospital care alone, Cynthia Fernandes palliative care unit, an old age home was also built at the campus with the help of generous donors of the community.
The need of the hour at Goretti Hospital
As the medical field grows rapidly and with the latest advancements in the technological field the demand for new and advanced healthcare is growing at Goretti Hospital too. The demand for better healthcare facilities, modern equipment and specialised services is increasing rapidly. To continue its mission of serving all—especially the poor and marginalised—the hospital urgently needs support for 24x7 availability of doctors, dialysis equipment and advanced nephrology services, expanded gynaecology and women’s healthcare facilities, fully equipped ambulance, blood bank and other lifesaving services and a major upgrade in the infrastructure to meet present day medical standards.
The upgrade in these facilities and services requires a substantial amount of funds. Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh which has always been in the forefront for helping the needy has taken up this initiative to support the noble cause. The organizers are targeting to raise a fund amounting to Rs 1 crore and the entire amount will be utilised purely for the development of Goretti Hospital alone. Catholic Sabha believes in strengthening the existing facilities rather than building a completely new ecosystem.
The hospital is dedicatedly service driven and not profit oriented. Serving the needy has been the hospital's mission from its inception and it is continued to do so. The funds raised from this mega musical nite will be utilised for the benefit of the needy and deserving patients. Currently Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh with the support of Trinity Medicare Services backed by philanthropists Joseph Menezes Sasthan, Freeda Rego and Basil Pinto, and is providing dialysis facility for the deserving patients at a 50% discount rate at Goretti Hospital, Kallianpur. Continuing with an aim to serve more patients the funds raised from mega musical nite will be utilised for adding an additional dialysis machine.
The Catholic Sabha, the largest laity organisation of the Udupi Diocese, under the leadership of its diocesan president Ronald D’Almeida, secretary Joel D’almeida and treasurer Garfield Urban Lewis and a cohesive team, has taken up this mission with determination. With 51 active units across five deaneries — Kallianpur, Kundapur, Udupi, Shirva and Karkala — the Catholic Sabha is mobilizing support from socially conscious well-wishers and generous donors.
