Doha, Feb 19: Billawas Qatar successfully organised a grand Throwball Tournament held at The Hamilton International School - Doha, bringing together 20 teams across men’s, women’s, and mixed categories. Held as part of the Qatar National Sports Day celebrations, the tournament promoted sportsmanship, teamwork, fitness, and community engagement.
The tournament was officially inaugurated by Harish Pandey, first secretary (Education, Culture & Visa), Embassy of India, Doha, Qatar. The ceremony was attended by distinguished guests including Chidananda Naik – director, M Pallonji (event sponsor), Subramanya Hebbagelu - ISC advisory member, Raghunath Anchan - Billawas Qatar advisory chairman and dignitaries from ICC, ICBF, ISC, along with presidents of various associations.

















































































































































Aparna Sharath, president of Billawas Qatar, welcomed the gathering and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to community development through sports. The inaugural ceremony was anchored by RJ Asttami, followed by Pooja Jitin and Manju Karigar, who conducted the proceedings.
The closing ceremony was graced by Farhan Al Sheikh Al Sayed, founder and patron of art, fashion and cultural diplomacy, as chief guest. He congratulated Billawas Qatar on the successful conduct of the tournament and highlighted the importance of sports in fostering discipline, unity, and healthy living.
On this occasion, Dhanalaxmi Poojary, World Cup Kabaddi 2025 Champion, was felicitated in recognition of her outstanding sporting achievement and was honoured with the title 'Biruva Bolpu' (Rising Star of Billawas).
The closing ceremony proceedings were hosted by Chidananda Rai, and the vote of thanks was delivered by Seema Poojary, sports secretary, who acknowledged the support of sponsors, organisers, teams, volunteers, and members.

Men’s category: Tulukoota 1 (champions); Star Strikers (runners-up)
Women’s category: MCC (champions); Tulukoota 1 (runners-up); Tulukoota 2 (2nd runners-up)
Mixed category: Tulukoota 1 (champions); Alpha Squad (runners-up)
The tournament concluded on a positive note, reaffirming Billawas Qatar’s commitment to promoting sports, fitness, and community engagement. Organised as part of the Qatar Sports Day celebrations, the event encouraged a healthy lifestyle and strengthened community bonds through sport.
