Mangaluru: St Agnes College (Autonomous) celebrates annual day with grandeur

Mangaluru, Feb 18: St Agnes College (Autonomous), Mangaluru celebrated its college day on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at 5 pm in the Mother Mary Aloysia Centenary Auditorium.

Dr Jacob Crasta, founder, chairman, and managing director of C M Envirosystems Pvt Ltd, was the chief guest of the programme. The event was presided over by Sr Dr Maria Roopa AC, joint secretary of St Agnes Institutions, Sr Dr M Venissa AC, the principal, Dr Udaya Kumar B and Malavika Shetty, the programme coordinators along with Ananya Madhu and Joby Thomas, the student presidents.

Dr Jacob Crasta, in his address assured the parents that there is no need to worry about their children’s future, as numerous opportunities are available today. He urged parents to guide their children toward skill enhancement and multilingual learning, emphasising that global information and resources are easily accessible in the digital era. He also motivated students to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and make effective use of various government schemes and youth development programmes.

The College felicitated special achievers who brought pride and recognition to the institution. Among those honoured were:

  • Sushravya U, the Golden Book of World Record holder in dance on skates;

  • NCC Air Wing CUO Poonam Kuwar, NCC air wing cadet Sgt Celine D’Silva, and NCC army wing cadet Sathwika R Bhat, who represented Karnataka & Goa Directorate in RDC 2026;

  • Udith Rai, an international throwball player;

  • Thanmayee K Bhatt, author of "Wounds That Bloom"; and

  • NCC air wing cadet Cpl Sonal Crasta, for her outstanding achievements at the Para Basic Course in Agra.

Prizes and scholarships were awarded to students for their outstanding achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

Vibrant cultural performances by the students added touch of festivity, delighting parents, staff, students, alumni and the well wishers.
