Beltangady, Feb 15: A massive fire broke out at Mairanagudde in Mundaje village on February 14 night, causing significant damage to trees and vegetation in the area.
The fire was first noticed around 7:30 pm on Saturday and quickly spread across the hilly terrain. Local residents, along with fire brigade personnel, worked late into the night to bring the blaze under control.

The flames eventually spread to a nearby rubber plantation, resulting in damage to several rubber trees. The exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
During the firefighting operations, a local resident reportedly slipped and fell about 20 feet down the slope. Fortunately, the individual escaped without any major injuries.
Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant as the dry weather continues to increase the risk of such forest and hill fires in the region.
