Mangaluru, Feb 9: Ashraya Aangan Charitable Trust (R) hosted a ‘Fashion Show Without Barriers', an inclusive fashion show celebrating the talent and confidence of children with special needs. The event was held at the All India Karnataka Bank Employees’ Association Hall, Kodiabail, on February 8.
The vibrant programme witnessed 50 children from across Karnataka walk the ramp, spreading joy and smiles among everyone present. Students from St Mary’s Special School, Kinnigoli, and Christraj Nevchethna Special School, Venur, presented lively performances adding colour and energy to the event.















The objective of the programme was to provide children with special needs a meaningful platform to showcase their abilities while encouraging society to move towards empathy and inclusion.
The event commenced with Asha Kumaraswamy, managing trustee of Ashraya Aangan, who shared the vision and mission of the organisation. She outlined future plans and emphasized the core principle behind the establishment of Ashraya Aangan - fostering inclusivity and acceptance for children with special needs.
The programme was graciously blessed by the presence of chief guests Yogarathna Gopalkrishna Delampady and Dr Nikhil Shetty, along with Bejoy Arakyal and Kumaraswamy.
Addressing the gathering, Yogarathna Gopalkrishna Delampady highlighted the importance of yoga in everyday life and wished Ashraya Aangan continued success in its future endeavours. Dr Nikhil Shetty spoke on the importance of inclusive education and the need to create safe, supportive, and encouraging environments for children with special needs, while also appreciating the dedicated efforts of Asha Kumaraswamy.
