Media Release

Bantwal, Feb 8: Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, wore a festive and prayerful look as the parish community celebrated Confraternity Sunday on February 08, marking a significant spiritual milestone ahead of the annual parish feast.

A Call to Unity in Christ:

The Solemn Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the main celebrant, Fr Faustine Lucas Lobo, director, Father Muller's Charitable Institutions. In his insightful homily, Fr Lobo expounded on the essence of "Confraternity," defining it as the act of coming together as a cohesive community. He reminded the faithful that the Body and Blood of Christ serve as the ultimate source of unity. Quoting the promise of Jesus, he emphasized that those who partake in the Eucharist are graced with the promise of eternal life, urging the parishioners to live out this unity in their daily lives.

Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, parish priest, Fr Naveen Pinto, principal of Deva Matha School and Fr Austin Fernandes were the concelebrants. Deacon Avil Santhumayor assisted during the celebration.

Public witness and sacramental grace:

The highlight of the day was the grand Eucharistic Procession, where the congregation followed the Blessed Sacrament through the streets of Mogarnad. The procession served as a public testimony of faith, symbolizing the parish's journey together under the guidance of Christ.

The event culminated in a deeply moving Special Sacramental Blessing. As the parishioners gathered back at the church, the blessing was conferred upon the assembly, providing a moment of personal encounter and spiritual renewal for all present. The day’s proceedings concluded with a sense of renewed vigour and communal harmony, setting a spiritual tone for the annual parish feast.
