Nanthoor accident: Case registered against protesters

Mangaluru, Feb 6: In connection with the accident that occurred near Nanthoor in the city, police have registered a case against several persons on charges of staging a protest by bringing the mortal remains of Deepti from a private hospital to the Kadri police station.

According to the police, Amit, Keerthan, Naveeth, Bharathraj, Pavan and Lokesh from Vivekanagar near Ballalbagh; Manveeth from Ballalbagh; Anil Kumar from Kankanady; Premanath from Ballalbagh; and around 50 others arrived near the Kadri police station in two-wheelers and cars along with an ambulance and formed an unlawful assembly to stage a protest.

Despite police officers and staff explaining to the protesters that such a demonstration was not appropriate, they allegedly refused to heed the advice and obstructed police personnel from performing their duties. It is also alleged that the protest caused disruption to public vehicular movement. Based on these allegations, the police have registered a case against the protesters.
