Bengaluru, Feb 1: The Karnataka high court has set aside the externment order issued against Dharmasthala Soujanya case activist Mahesh Shetty Thimarodi, who had been externed for nine months to the limits of the Manvi police station in Raichur district by the Puttur sub-divisional officer.
The court has directed the authorities to pass a fresh order within three weeks after duly considering the objections raised by the petitioner. Thimarody had been externed from December 16, 2025 to September 16, 2026 under the earlier order, which he had challenged before the high court.

In his petition, Thimarodi contended that the externment order was passed without considering his objections. He argued that cases in which he had already been acquitted were cited against him and that the authorities failed to apply due discretion even after issuing a show-cause notice and receiving his detailed response.
After hearing the matter, a single-judge bench of Justice Nagaprasanna observed that the petitioner’s objections must be examined. The court directed that, within three weeks of receiving a copy of the order, the competent authority shall consider the objections submitted by the petitioner and thereafter pass a fresh order in accordance with law.
