Udupi, Jan 27: The controversy surrounding the alleged humiliation of a retired Army officer at the Sasthan toll gate has come to an end, with former serviceman Shyamaraj accepting the apology tendered by the toll plaza staff.
The incident occurred in the early hours of January 25, when toll booth employees at Sasthan allegedly denied toll exemption to Shyamaraj despite him producing valid documents entitling him to the waiver.

In a fresh video released on the evening of January 27, Shyamaraj confirmed that he had accepted the apology offered by the toll staff. He expressed gratitude to the many people who stood by him during the episode and appealed for understanding and forgiveness.
“If we do not accept an apology, then who will? The incident was painful, but the toll employees have apologised. They are also our brothers—let us forgive them,” he said.
He added that the toll authorities have assured him that such incidents would not be repeated in the future, effectively bringing closure to the matter.
