Mangaluru, Jan 24: The restored Kalasha near Mahaveer Circle at Pumpwell, a landmark that once symbolised the city, was inaugurated on Saturday evening.

Dharmadhikari Dr D Veerendra Heggade inaugurated the reinstated Kalasha in the presence of Karnataka Assembly Speaker U T Khader, MLA D Vedavyas Kamath, MLC Ivan D’Souza, SCDCC Bank chairman Dr M N Rajendra Kumar and others.

The Pumpwell Kalasha, which earlier stood as a prominent city landmark, was removed in 2016 during the construction of the Pumpwell flyover. Following sustained efforts to revive the structure, restoration work had been progressing steadily over the past few months.

The restoration process commenced in October last year, and the reinstatement was carried out under the supervision of the Jain Society. The inauguration marked the revival of a cultural and visual landmark that holds significance for the city of Mangaluru.
