Sexual assault cases: State announces Rs 35 lac cash reward for cops who probed Prajwal Revanna

Bengaluru, Jan 23: The state home department has announced a cash reward of Rs 35 lac for police officers and personnel who carried out an effective investigation and ensured successful prosecution in the sexual assault cases registered against former MP Prajwal Revanna.

According to the order, officers holding the ranks of DGP and IGP will receive Rs 20,000 each, amounting to a total of Rs 25 lac. Officers in the ranks of DIGP, ADGP and IGP have been sanctioned Rs 8,000 each, totalling Rs 3 lac.

Other police officers and staff will be awarded Rs 5,000 each, amounting to Rs 2 lac, while district-level officers will receive Rs 5,000 each, totalling Rs 1 lac.

The reward has been announced in recognition of the comprehensive investigation and effective legal follow-up in multiple cases, including sexual assault cases, registered against Prajwal Revanna. Officials stated that the officers and staff played a crucial role in collecting evidence, conducting a thorough probe and securing conviction.

Prajwal Revanna, the accused in the sexual assault case, has been awarded life imprisonment, officials said.

The home department stated that the cash reward has been announced to encourage professionalism, accountability and excellence within the police department.
