Mangaluru: SGMA empowers students with innovation and digital learning

Media Release

Mangaluru, Jan 22: A collaborative initiative aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and practical learning among students was formally launched with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Shree Gujarati English Medium High School, managed by Shree Gujarati Mahajan Association (SGMA), and Swastika National Business School. The programme was held at the auditorium of Shree Gujarati English Medium High School on Tuesday. The MoU was formally signed by Tarun Thakar, vice-president of SGMA, in the presence of Sandeep Shah, co-chairperson of the Education Committee.

The MoU seeks to promote entrepreneurship, skill development, experiential learning, and practical business exposure among school and college students through structured academic and co-curricular collaboration. As part of the initiative, the institutions will jointly organise regular skill development programmes, workshops, and mentoring sessions for students and faculty members.

1. The MoU offers school students early exposure to entrepreneurship, helping them build a clear understanding of business fundamentals and innovation from a young age.

2. It creates a school–college learning bridge, allowing students to benefit from the academic expertise and practical insights of a business school environment.

3. Students will gain hands-on experience through live projects, case studies, and real ventures, rather than only theoretical learning.

4. The collaboration encourages mentorship-led learning, where experienced faculty and industry practitioners guide students through practical business challenges.

5. It promotes financial literacy and business awareness, equipping students with essential life skills such as budgeting, marketing, and decision-making.

6. The initiative supports student-led startups and entrepreneurial thinking, inspiring creativity, leadership, and confidence.

7. Faculty members from both institutions will benefit from knowledge sharing and collaborative teaching practices, strengthening overall academic quality.

8. The three-year duration of the MoU ensures continuity, long-term planning, and measurable outcomes for students and educators.

9. The partnership with Swastika National Business School adds academic credibility and industry-oriented perspective to the school’s entrepreneurship initiatives.

A key highlight of the initiative is the launch of a student-led start-up, The Alovera, founded by two of our class 9 students, Phoolvati and Damini. The venture reflects their early interest in business and product development and stands as a proud example of how classroom learning can translate into real-world ideas. This initiative marks an encouraging step in nurturing entrepreneurial thinking among students at a young age.

Speaking on the occasion, representatives of the school management highlighted the importance of introducing business awareness and real-world skills at the school level, while officials from Swastika National Business School emphasised experiential learning as a foundation for future-ready education.

The MoU, valid for three years, sets out plans for joint workshops, business and marketing skill sessions, collaborative projects, and faculty development programmes. Both institutions expressed confidence that the partnership would create meaningful opportunities for students to explore innovation, leadership, and entrepreneurship alongside their formal education.

Smart learning and digital boost - Preparing Students for Tomorrow with Infosys Springboard

In a move to strengthen technology-enabled education, Shree Gujarati English Medium High School has announced a collaboration with Infosys Springboard, a flagship CSR initiative of Infosys. The launch programme was held at the school auditorium in the presence of school management, teachers, and invited guests. As part of this association, Infosys Springboard serves as the digital learning backbone of the Prerana programme, which focuses on school-level implementation and outreach, while Infosys Springboard delivers the learning content, courses, certifications, and skill modules. In simple terms, Prerana is the education initiative, and Infosys Springboard is the platform that powers learning within it.

The collaboration aims to provide students and teachers with free access to high-quality digital learning resources, skill-based courses, and structured learning pathways. Through Infosys Springboard, students will be exposed to industry-relevant modules beyond the regular curriculum, while teachers will benefit from certification-based training and continuous professional development.

1. The collaboration gives students early exposure to industry-relevant skills, helping them understand real-world applications beyond the regular curriculum.

2. Access to self-paced digital learning allows students to learn according to their interests and abilities, encouraging independent and continuous learning.

3. The initiative helps bridge the gap between academic learning and practical skills, especially in areas such as digital literacy, critical thinking, and communication.

4. Teachers will gain access to certification-based training programmes, strengthening classroom delivery and improving overall learning outcomes.

5. The platform supports inclusive learning, ensuring equal access to quality educational resources for students from diverse backgrounds.

6. The collaboration prepares students for future academic and career pathways, including higher education, competitive examinations, and evolving professional fields.

7. It strengthens the school’s focus on 21st-century skills, aligning education with modern technological and workforce demands.

8. The association with Infosys Springboard adds industry-backed credibility to the school’s digital education initiatives.

The platform supports learners from class 6 to lifelong learners and offers a wide range of courses developed in collaboration with global partners such as Coursera and Harvard Business Publishing. It is fully aligned with India’s National Education Policy 2020, focusing on digital literacy, critical thinking, communication, and vocational skills. Learners can also gain practical exposure through masterclasses, programming challenges, interactive practice areas, and virtual proctored certification exams.

Ashish Shah, representing Infosys Springboard, attended the programme along with other officials and spoke about the importance of digital platforms in bridging learning gaps and preparing students for future academic and career demands.

The school was represented by former presidents of the management, Nigam Vasani, current president of SGMA and the current education committee chairperson, Avni Sutaria along with Ashwini Shenoy, the principal of the school. School authorities noted that this initiative aligns with their long-term vision of blending strong educational values with modern, technology-driven learning practices.

The collaboration is expected to benefit students and parents alike, especially those from modest backgrounds who may not have had access to higher education opportunities. With multilingual content available on the platform, both students and parents can learn and grow together. Through this initiative, students will gain clarity about future career pathways and develop skills that support confident, responsible, and well-rounded growth.
