Kundapur, Jan 18: Kota police have arrested five persons, including two juveniles, in connection with a cattle theft case that came to light while they were allegedly plotting another theft in the Kota area.
The arrests were made after the police detained the suspects on suspicion and questioned them, during which it was revealed that they had earlier stolen a cow, slaughtered it and sold the meat, and were preparing to steal another animal.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Mufeed (22), Mohammed Riyan (21) and Aadeeb Ahmad (21), all residents of Kemmannu Hoode Paduthonse, along with two juveniles.
Police said they received information about a car parked suspiciously near the Chitrapadi Parivartana Institution limits. A police team rushed to the spot and, upon inspection, found deadly weapons allegedly used for slaughtering animals and blood stains inside the vehicle. All five occupants of the car were taken into custody for questioning.
During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that they had used the same car to steal a cow, slaughter it and sell the meat, and had again arrived in the Kota area with the intention of committing another cattle theft. All the accused are below 22 years of age.
Kota police have registered a case and initiated further legal action.
