Kundapur, Jan 8: A 10-year-old boy who went missing from the Bengere area of Gujjadi village, under the limits of Gangolli police station, was traced safely following a swift and coordinated search operation by the police.

The boy, identified as Samruddha, a class 4 student of Gujjadi Lower Primary School, had gone out to play near Bengere Naga Temple on the evening of January 7 but failed to return home. His maternal uncle, Vasanth Poojary, with whom the child resides, reported the matter to the police when the boy remained untraceable until late evening.

Acting promptly, Gangolli police station inspector Pavan Nayak, under the supervision of H D Kulkarni, deputy superintendent of police, Kundapur, and Shivakumar B, circle inspector, Byndoor, launched a search operation involving police personnel and local residents.

After an intensive search of the surrounding areas, the missing boy was found sleeping in a cavity beneath a rock, located approximately 250 metres from his residence. He was rescued unharmed and safely handed over to his guardians.

The timely action of the Gangolli police and the cooperation of the public were instrumental in ensuring the child’s safe return.
