Udupi: Police arrest MDMA peddler, seize drugs and property worth Rs 3.23 lac

Udupi, Jan 6: The Udupi City police have arrested a man for allegedly transporting and attempting to sell the banned narcotic MDMA, seizing drugs and other property valued at Rs 3.23 lac.

Acting under the guidance of Udupi sub-divisional police officer Prabhu D T, a team led by Udupi City police station in-charge inspector Mahesh Prasad carried out the operation near Karamballi Ramabettu, a public area in Shivalli village, Udupi.

During the operation, police intercepted an auto and arrested Abdul Rauf (26), a resident near Doddanagudde Mosque, Shivalli village. The accused was allegedly in possession of 7.59 grams of MDMA powder, estimated to be worth Rs 15,000, intended for sale.

Police also seized Rs 3,100 in cash, reportedly earned from the sale of MDMA, and the black-and-yellow autorickshaw used to transport the contraband. The total value of the seized drugs and property is estimated at Rs 3.23 lac.

A case has been registered at Udupi City police station, and the accused has been taken into custody. Further investigation is underway.

The operation was executed by PSIs Bharatesh Kankanawadi and Gopala Krishna Jogi, along with personnel Harish Naik, Prasanna C, Nethravathi, Satish Palli, Hemanth Kumar, Santosh Rathod, and Anand.
