Kundapur, Jan 5: Three college students sustained serious injuries in a road accident involving a government bus and a tipper at the Shetrakatte curve on the Thallur–Neralakatte road, under the limits of the Rural police station.

The accident occurred when a government bus travelling from Kundapura towards Ajri–Siddapur collided with a tipper carrying soil, which was moving from Neralakatte towards Thallur. The tipper rammed into the right side of the bus, causing extensive damage. The driver’s side of the bus was badly crushed in the impact.

The bus was crowded with college students at the time of the collision. Two of the injured, currently admitted to a hospital in Manipal, are in critical condition with head injuries. The third student has been reported to be out of danger.

Local youth Prashanth Poojary Karki, along with members of the public, rushed to the scene and assisted in shifting the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
