Trump hints at fresh tariffs on India over continued Russian oil imports

Daijiworld Media Network – Washington

Washington, Jan 5: US President Donald Trump has hinted at imposing additional tariffs on India for continuing to import oil from Russia, stating that New Delhi is aware of Washington’s dissatisfaction over the issue.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One, President Trump said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a very good person, but added that India knows he is not happy. “It was important to keep me happy. They have continued trade, and we may soon raise tariffs on them,” Trump remarked.

Last year, Trump had imposed a 25 per cent tariff on Indian goods and an additional 25 per cent tariff specifically linked to India’s purchase of oil from Russia, taking the total tariff to 50 per cent. The decision had strained relations between India and the United States.

More recently, during a telephone conversation with Prime Minister Modi, both leaders had discussed strengthening bilateral trade ties. However, just weeks after those talks, President Trump has once again indicated the possibility of increasing tariffs on India.

Who is bowing down? Nations that refused to bow to U.S. bossism faced REGIME CHANGE or WAR: Pakistan. Sri Lanka. Nepal. Bangladesh. Iran. Venezuela. In India, they tried EVERY trick in the book: funding narratives, pushing propaganda, using India’s opposition as instruments. Regime change failed. Chaos failed. Pressure failed. Because India doesn’t have a puppet: it has MODI. No proxy. No propaganda. No foreign playbook works here. Credit to citizens of this country too who never got swayed by various propaganda. They understand the game very well. How few ppoliticians are going abroad to take dictation from their foreign masters & then come back to bring GenZ on streets . Our democracy is not weak, armed forces and institutions are not weak. In fact the only stable country in terms of democracy . But the dangers of regime change in India have not faded Venezuela will embolden Deep State but so will awareness levels among majority in Bharat .India 2026 could be a testing time for India

Someone said that he will show red eyes to China. But then went to China to attend a summit. Someone never missed an opportunity to attend world summits from 2014 till June 2025. But after someone started verbally attacking him the man who used to attend summits went hiding.

FYI, whatever you are saying is only in unofficial social media and in rumours and in gossips. Nothing officially said in response to opposition raising questions in the parliament nor in any official open press conference to clarify the matter.
