Mangaluru, Jan 3: A 27-year-old bike rider lost his life after his motorcycle crashed into a divider near a toll gate under construction at Raj Academy on National Highway 169, within the Ganjimath gram panchayat limits, on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Rohith (27), a resident of Viveknagar, Edapadavu. He was the son of Harish and Mohini, residents of Viveknagar, Edapadavu.

Rohith was employed in Mangaluru and was returning home after finishing work when the accident occurred. While travelling from Mangaluru towards Edapadavu, his bike rammed into the divider near the toll gate under construction, resulting in his death on the spot.

A bus pass belonging to the deceased was found, which showed that its validity period was from February 2, 2024, to January 1, 2026. Tragically, Rohith died on the last day of the pass’s validity.

Vehicle drivers have alleged that the divider near the toll gate under construction at Ganjimath is not clearly visible at night, leading to frequent accidents. They have also stated that the poorly marked divider is causing confusion among motorists.
