Udupi, Jan 1: Nisarga Point Fernandes Leisure and Resort Private Limited was formally inaugurated at Moodukudru, Kallianpur in Udupi district on Wednesday, December 31.
The resort was inaugurated by Celine Fernandes, mother of Wilson Fernandes, by cutting the ribbon. This was followed by a formal programme during which dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp.
Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, rector of Milagres Cathedral, Kallianpur, invoked blessings and consecrated the resort by sprinkling holy water. In his address, he said that Nisarga Point would help people rejuvenate both physically and mentally. He added that Wilson Fernandes and his team had ensured all facilities were in place and wished the venture great success.
Speaking on the occasion, BJP leader Mattar Rathnakar Shetty said that Wilson Fernandes has created employment opportunities for many people. He said that Fernandes Group has provided jobs to over 1,000 persons and observed that resorts located near seashores and riverbanks are increasingly preferred by people seeking peace away from city life. He described Nisarga Point as a beautiful tourist destination with riverbanks on both sides and wished the resort sustained growth and success.
Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake said tourism plays a vital role in district development. He recalled that earlier Goa was a major tourist hub, while Kerala has now emerged strongly in the sector. He stressed that tourists must be welcomed warmly for tourism to flourish. Sorake said that during his tenure as a Lok Sabha member, he had identified 13 tourist spots for development and noted that Udupi district has the highest NIR in Karnataka. Facilities such as Nisarga Point, he said, are essential to attract tourists, generate employment and strengthen the local economy.
Fr Denis D'Sa, PRO of the Udupi Diocese, said modern life is filled with stress and mental pressure. He observed that everyone needs rest and peace, and said that Wilson Fernandes’ success was strongly supported by his wife Leena Fernandes and his mother. He added that nature is God’s abundant gift and that resorts help people find rest and mental peace.
BJP leader K P Jagadish Adhikari said that Wilson Fernandes has contributed to society by creating employment opportunities, including facilitating overseas jobs. He said that while earning profits, Fernandes has also worked for the upliftment of the poor and added that Nisarga Point would offer peace and relaxation to visitors.
Located at Kallianpur, Nisarga Point offers a family-friendly environment with adventure games and nature-based attractions.
