Udupi, Dec 30: In a major development in the murder of AKMS bus owner Saif alias Saifuddin Athradi, who was killed on September 27 at Kodavoor under the jurisdiction of the Malpe police station, the Udupi police have issued a Look Out Circular (LOC) against the prime accused Akram, who is currently absconding abroad.
Investigations have revealed that Akram was earlier named as an accused along with Saif in the sensational murder of Sheikh Mohammed Tasleem of Kemmannu, which took place on July 14, 2016, at Shedigudde near Athradi. Despite being co-accused in that case, the two later continued their association and went on to become business partners, police sources said.

According to investigators, Akram allegedly hatched the entire conspiracy behind Saif’s murder nearly a week in advance and fled to Dubai, anticipating the crime and evading arrest. During this period, he is said to have manipulated business dealings by transferring liabilities and loans to the names of Saif and Saif’s wife, while systematically ensuring that the profits from the venture accrued solely to him.
“With clear evidence pointing to Akram as the mastermind behind the murder and his escape abroad, we have intensified efforts to secure his arrest,” police sources stated. The Udupi police, with the assistance of Interpol, have now cast a wider net to trace, detain and extradite the accused at the earliest.
Authorities said further action would be taken as soon as Akram’s location and movement overseas are confirmed.
