Mangaluru: Chain-snatching incident caught on camera at Konchady

Mangaluru, Dec 26: A chain-snatching incident was reported from Koppalakadu in Konchady here on December 25 evening, with CCTV footage capturing the suspect fleeing the scene.

According to information available, the incident occurred around 6.30 pm when a woman was returning home after work. An unidentified miscreant allegedly snatched a gold chain weighing three-and-a-half sovereigns from her neck and fled from the spot.

CCTV visuals from the area show the accused running away immediately after committing the theft. In another clip, the suspect is seen entering a residential compound, jumping over a compound wall and escaping. Further footage reportedly shows the accused changing clothes a short distance away before disappearing from the area.

The woman raised an alarm following the incident, after which local residents alerted the police. Personnel from the concerned police station visited the spot, inspected the area and reviewed the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

A case has been registered, and police have launched a search to trace and apprehend the accused.
